FLATBED

Trucks with flat beds are, well, flat. These trailers are exposed to the elements since they lack walls and roofs. A sturdy aluminum frame supports a hardwood platform that makes up the flatbed trailer. While most trailers have flat decks, some may have drop decks. Flatbed trailers are 8 feet, 6 inches wide, 48 to 53 feet long, and have a deck height of 60 inches. They can carry up to 48,000 pounds of weight.

STEPDECK

Other names for these trailers are single drops, drop decks, and open deck trailers. They carry a lot of the same kinds of cargo as a flatbed trailer.

B-TRAIN

In Canada and some US states, the B-Train combo is also particularly common for transporting liquid, bulk, and flatbed cargo. Drivers will typically only drive ahead in these activities, making it simpler because they typically don't involve backing into a port. Even into a dock or around a corner, most drivers who pull these frequently can back them up very successfully.

REEFERS

A trailer that is labeled as "refrigerated" or "reefer" is one that is well-insulated, tightly shut, and has a Trailer Refrigeration Unit (TRU) positioned on the outside of the front wall to regulate the interior temperature.
